When your card number is entered, it's processed with the payment terminal immediately and then erased, never kept or placed anywhere.

This is why the entire order is charged when your order is placed. If a back ordered item is purchased, you are still charged for it when you place your order. If we were to charge your card when the item arrives in stock (as some other stores do), this means your credit card number has to be stored somewhere which means it can be at risk of being stolen.
